Number 1: Munich and The Neuschwanstein

I got back from Munich Saturday and am completely worn out.

Who knows the difference between traveling and a vacation??? I do!  They're not the same.  We fit so much into one week that I look back on it and cannot believe we got it all in.  However, I wouldn't have it any other way because there is so much to do and so many amazing things to see!

Let me recap for you all in pictures... I'll be giving a few posts just on this trip because just like during the trip, it's information overload...

(note: these picture in no way give the places I went and the fun that we had justice)

We started out with Mikes Bike Tours.  I suggest this to anyone traveling to Munich.  It was one of the highlights of the entire trip, and an amazing way to see all the hotspots in Munich in one day.  The tour guides were fabulous and we really lucked out with such a beautiful day!
The one and only Hofbrauhaus

The English Gardens... (This was the naked quarter to be exact.  Not a pretty sight)

The Chinesischer Turm Beer Garden (The second largest in the world)

They are seriously surfing in the middle of Munich

We then took a train to Fussen.  This is where King Ludwig II built the Neuschwanstein Castle and the Hohenschwangau Castle.

The most dangerous bridge I have ever been on.  It's built out of wood and was moving from wind.

The other castle in Fussen built by Ludwig II... Hohenschwangau Castle

Beautiful!  Walt Disney sure knew which castle to choose from!

Stay tuned for Oktoberfest!

  1. Hi Katie, glad that you had a fun trip!! I have been to Munich and to King Ludwig's castles. Neuschwanstein, a dream schloss, am sure going back again before I head back to India. Hohenschwangau is King Ludwig II's childhood castle, the castle from where he began dreaming about Neuschwanstein..:)

  3. I loved the videos!! There is no way you could get me to cross that bridge. Looks like a scene from James Bond!!!! My son-in-law is from Germany. Not sure what area, but last week my daughter says it is about an hour from Czech Republic. Enjoyed the beer demo. We are having our first October Fest here in Cullman with BEER!!! LOL........its a long story.

  4. Hey, I've been following your blog for quite some time but this post I had to comment.
It has all the elements which have kept me wanting to pursue my further studies there: beer(food tech i.e.), the chilly weather, beer(for fun this time), the pretty castles and beer(getting drunk this time). Just the cakes are left out.
Its a exciting journey that you have..

  5. Katie! When Christin, Anne and I went to Munich, we took the train to that castle (the one Walt Disney used)! It was absolutely incredible. I'm so glad you're able to travel and have fun while you're working, too! Miss youuu
