Bremerhaven Hidden Secrets

Bremerhaven is a really interesting place to be.  Most of the population living in Bremerhaven complains about the city... how small it is... how there is nothing to do... etc.

In the winter, yes.  NOTHING.  Add the wind factor, and there is less than nothing to do.

When the weather is beautiful (which is a rare occasion), there is plenty to do and the city opens up completely.

There are lots of hidden secrets in the city, that are only capable of finding through other people.

Like this!

This is a little farm right on the outskirts of the city where you can buy freshly made milk, chocolate milk, joghurt and cheese.

The best part?  Normally, there isn't anyone there controlling the concession.  Everything is on the honor system.  There is a small hut, where the products are refrigerated, and a small slot to put your money.  Amazing that there is still places and people like this in the world, where they have faith in society.

Just knowing that they put the trust in the people, I would never short-change to steal any of the products.  Of course, I'm only speaking for myself, but I think this is really great.

By the way... the chocolate milk was absolutely fantastic!

  1. Germany is amazing in this way. When we lived near Munich my eldest son availed himself of the famous Octoberfest. After a long night of carousing he fell asleep in a beer tent only to find on awaking he had had his backpack stolen. Gone were his passport, driving license, not to mention glasses and money. The next night he was bemoaning his fate at his favourite bar in Garmisch and the German bartender told him he should check with the 'lost and found' at the beer festival sight. Sure enough, the bag was there and so was everything in it! There was a charge of something like 5 euros.

  2. My goodness! I just noticed all the "followers" you have accumulated since I started following you!! The fresh dairy sounds delicious. I am going to have to ask again where my son in law is from. He is German. They are going over there for a visit this summer.
